At CollegeWorks, our mission is simple. We are dedicated to helping our high school students find their best college matches. In the increasingly competitive realm of college admissions, we work with our students and their families to make the best decisions throughout the college application process. We know that each student has their unique strengths, interests, talents, and experiences and at CollegeWorks we will help you tell your own story that will hit the optimal pitch with admissions officers. In the end, our students don’t just get into their top college choices, they gain self-confidence and an overall feeling of accomplishment while developing a strong sense of self.

Meet Our Team

Joey Nicole Hes

Joey Hes attended Johns Hopkins on a merit scholarship where she earned a B.A. in International Affairs and East Asian Studies. Elected to Phi Beta Kappa as a Junior, she graduated early, in the top 1% of her class. She went on to attend Columbia Law School and Journalism School - where she perfected her skills as a persuasive writer.

Teaching classes, training other teachers, and privately tutoring for the SAT, ACT and LSAT throughout college and ever since, a natural extension of her work became assisting her students with their college essays and applications.

Joey knows how to articulate a great story and loves nothing more than lending this skill to help her high school students gain admission to their top choice colleges. For the past twenty years, she has helped hundreds of students choose where to apply, achieving a perfect balance of “safety,” “target,” and “reach” schools, and then helping them compose original and memorable personal essays to ensure that their applications shine.

Fluent in Mandarin, Joey has been able to work with Chinese students, both here and in China, to also help them gain acceptance to top-choice U.S. colleges. Most of all, through her vast experience, she is there to help students and their families navigate the entire process with a lot of care, encouragement and guaranteed laughter.
